Service · Toilets & cisterns

Toilet and cistern repairs in Sandwich.

Running loo, weak flush, wobbly pan, cistern fittings, full toilet replacement. One of the most common call-outs on the books.

The running toilet

A toilet that keeps running after the cistern has filled is almost always a worn flush valve (flapper) not sealing properly, or a fill valve that is not shutting off at the right level. Both are inexpensive parts and a straightforward fix once we are on site. Left unfixed, a running toilet can waste a genuinely large amount of water over a year, so it is worth sorting quickly even though it is rarely an emergency.

Weak or partial flush

Weak flush is usually a fill-valve or siphon issue on older cisterns, or a dual-flush mechanism that has started sticking on newer ones. We check the water level in the cistern first (a common cause is simply too little water reaching the fill line) before replacing any internal parts.

Wobbly or leaking pan

A toilet that rocks slightly is usually down to the fixing bolts working loose or the wax or rubber seal at the base failing, which can let water seep out at the floor when it is flushed. Re-securing the pan and replacing the base seal is a straightforward fix. A cracked pan or cistern needs full replacement rather than repair.

Standard pricing bands

Cistern internals (fill valve and flush valve) replaced £80 to £140 fitted. Toilet re-secured and base seal replaced £70 to £120. Full toilet replacement (close-coupled, standard) £150 to £280 including removal and disposal of the old one, more for a wall-hung or higher-spec unit.
